The Conch House Restaurant

We were super excited to try this restaurant after a day of boating and it was all around a major let down. The view and location were the only positives. The food was overall bad. Fries came out cold (we had to ask for new ones which ended up being good). Their soup was essentially cream and pepper. The fried shrimp were also very bad. It seems as though very easy meals to make could not be made well. Also there was lipstick on one of the glasses. We asked for a new one as we weren’t wearing lipstick and the waiter responded “I kissed it”. We also got some drinks. They were overall ok but nothing amazing, but it’s generally what was expected. Their “spicy” drink was pineapple and liquor. When asked they said yeah we just put this spicy stuff on the rim. We were happy and hungry and an easy crowd to please, but all 10 people said they probably would not be back. You would think when you spend as much as our bill was the service, food, and drinks would be good.

Just not that good tonight. Long wait to be seated and even after they seated us we waited 20 minutes to get water served or even an order taken. Ordered the steak and got it super over cooked. After all that went wrong, I took my kids to the restroom and they cleaned up their plates without asking. Just horrible. Yeah, had to write about it because the experience infuriated me so much. Obviously I could vent to the waiter but it’s not his fault. It’s a systemic failed in quality, training and values as a business. Place is going down hill.

Caribbean jerk chicken was very good with coconut rice and plantains. Fried shrimp were also very good with excellent hush puppies. Atmosphere is terrific with friendly and efficient service. Prices are fair. Highly recommend. A seafood platter would be a welcome addition to the menu.
